Hello, my name is Tracey Mellor, I was born in London and now live with my husband and two sons in beautiful West Sussex.
I believe that our personal histories can be seen in our bodies, the way we look and the way we move. These life experiences should be respected. Intelligent movement teaching can unravel ingrained and habitual movement patterns achieve personal movement goals and release the bodies potential
After school I trained as a Chartered surveyor and worked for 15 years in the City of London as an investment surveyor and Fund manager, an exciting but stressful job. Restructuring, redundancy and children created new challenges.
I became a stay-at-home Mum, another exciting and stressful job.
I have always loved physical exercise. I played netball for over 20 years until injury made me hang up my bib. When my youngest son was a few months old, I tried a new exercise at our local leisure centre- Pilates. I remember being immediately enthralled by the structure and control of the movement, my body and my mind loved it.
I trained as a Mat work Pilates instructor, initially with the Pilates Institute and then Polestar Pilates. I then went on to train, with Polestar Pilates to teach Studio work on the cleverly designed Pilates machines. I now have my own studio.
Training and Experience
I have been teaching Pilates for 10 years, a little of each teacher and each course I have attended in that time is reflected in my classes. I also have a 500 hour yoga training and a basic Gyrotonic training.
I have studied myofascial anatomy and been on courses for pregnancy, osteoporosis and spinal injury.
My Pilates mentor is the Master Trainer Helge Fisher and I trained and taught in her studio for 8 years. Through Helge I met Jo Avison who introduced me to the wonderful world of Fascia and Fascial research. This research informs and validates my movement teaching.
